Strong Composite Slab Support
Designed to provide reliable support for concrete slabs in mezzanine floors, commercial floors, and industrial platforms.
High-performance steel decking sheets designed to act as permanent shuttering for composite slabs, helping reduce construction time, concrete usage, and temporary formwork in industrial and commercial flooring projects.
Alfa PEB 50MM decking sheets are engineered to function as both permanent formwork during construction and structural reinforcement after concrete curing, creating a strong and efficient composite floor system. Manufactured from high-quality galvanised or PPGI steel, these precision roll-formed decking profiles reduce construction time, minimize concrete usage, and lower structural dead loads compared to conventional slab systems. Designed for fast installation, superior load performance, and long-term durability, our composite metal decking sheets are ideal for multi-storey steel buildings, commercial complexes, industrial structures, and modern infrastructure projects.

A composite decking sheet performs two distinct structural functions across the life of the floor. During construction, it is self-supporting permanent formwork: it spans between structural beams, carries the weight of wet concrete and construction loads, and requires no temporary propping in standard bay configurations — eliminating the cost, time, and logistics of traditional formwork entirely. Once the concrete has cured, the sheet becomes the positive tensile reinforcement of the composite slab: bonded to the concrete above through the cross-embossed mechanical interlock on its profile ribs, it acts with the concrete as an integrated steel-concrete structural system, contributing tensile strength to the slab in the same way that bottom-face reinforcement bar does in a conventional RC flat slab. Both roles are essential — and the 50MM trapezoidal profile is specifically dimensioned and embossed to maximise performance in both.
The 50MM rib depth represents the industry-optimised balance between structural depth, concrete volume efficiency, and construction practicality for multi-storey and mezzanine applications. A 50MM deck provides adequate structural depth for typical unpropped spans of 2.5–4.5 metres under standard commercial and industrial imposed loads — covering the vast majority of multi-storey building applications in India. Shallower profiles (32–38MM) suit shorter spans and lighter loads where minimising overall slab depth is a priority. Deeper profiles (75–100MM+) are used for long unpropped spans, transfer floors, or very high imposed loads where the additional structural depth justifies the increased concrete volume. For most projects, 50MM is the right answer — confirmed by its status as the dominant composite deck depth in Indian multi-storey construction.
Traditional flat slab construction requires temporary formwork — props, falsework, and deck panels — to be erected floor by floor before any concrete can be poured. This formwork must then be struck after cure, cleaned, moved up a floor, and re-erected. On a multi-storey building, formwork erection, stripping, and re-use typically adds 2–3 weeks per floor to the construction programme. Composite decking eliminates this completely: the deck is installed directly onto the steel frame, self-supports during the concrete pour without propping in standard bay configurations, and remains in place permanently. Combined with the reduced dead load on primary beams — which reduces steel tonnage — and the reduced concrete volume compared to flat slabs, the installed cost of a composite deck floor system is typically 15–25% lower than an equivalent RC flat slab, with a construction programme advantage of 6–10 weeks on a five to eight storey building.
Composite slab load capacity depends on sheet thickness, concrete topping depth, span between supporting beams, and mesh reinforcement specification — and is calculated by the structural engineer for each specific project configuration. As a general reference for project planning: 50MM composite decks in standard configurations typically achieve imposed load capacities of 3.5–5.0 kN/m² for commercial office applications, 5.0–7.5 kN/m² for industrial and heavy commercial uses, and 7.5–10+ kN/m² for high-load industrial, racking, and plant room applications, with unpropped spans typically ranging from 2.5 to 4.5 metres depending on sheet thickness and slab depth. Alfaa PEB supplies sheets to the structural engineer's specified thickness and profile for any design load and span combination — our role is to supply precisely to specification, not to define the structural design.
Alfa PEB 50MM decking sheets are manufactured from hot-dip galvanised steel or PPGI (prepainted galvanised iron), providing corrosion protection on both the exposed soffit face and the top surface in contact with wet concrete during the pour. The galvanised or PPGI coating protects the deck during site storage, handling, and the construction phase — and continues to protect the permanently exposed soffit surface throughout the building's service life. For standard internal building environments, hot-dip galvanised decking provides adequate long-term protection. PPGI is specified where an enhanced soffit finish appearance is required, where the service environment warrants additional protection, or where the architectural specification calls for a colour-coordinated ceiling soffit. Both options are available from Alfaa PEB to your project specification.
