FAQ's

A GI decking sheet is a galvanized steel sheet roll-formed into a trapezoidal profile, used in composite floor slabs. It acts first as permanent formwork for the wet concrete, then as tensile reinforcement that works with the cured slab.

Alfa supplies four trapezoidal profiles 50 mm, 75 mm, 60 mm and 80 mm so you can match the profile depth to your span and load.

The number is the profile (rib) depth. A deeper rib gives greater stiffness and longer clear spans. 50 mm suits short spans and thinner slabs; 75 mm handles longer clear spans; 60 mm gives unpropped spans over 3.5 m with efficient cover; and 80 mm offers the longest spans with the fewest secondary beams.

Decking sheets are available in 0.8, 0.9, 1.0 and 1.2 mm base metal thickness depending on profile. The right gauge depends on your span, load and profile depth.

The 60mm profile enables unpropped spans in excess of 3.5 m, and the deeper 80mm profile spans even further reducing secondary beams and temporary props. Exact spans depend on slab depth, gauge, steel grade and fire rating.

Composite slabs built on these decking profiles can achieve fire ratings of up to 4 hours, depending on slab depth, reinforcement and design.

GSM is the zinc coating mass on the steel, available up to 275 GSM. Higher GSM gives greater corrosion protection.

Alfa uses high-tensile hot-dip galvanized coil in structural grades (typically S350, and S450 for 80mm), conforming to structural grade standards.

Profile and thickness follow from span, load, slab depth and support conditions. Longer spans and heavier loads call for a deeper profile and heavier gauge. Share your span and load and our team will confirm the specification.

Price depends on profile (50/75/60/80), thickness, coating (GSM), steel grade, length and quantity, and moves with steel coil rates. Send your requirement for a current, itemised quotation.
